Can I get "Children Playing" signs on my street?
Question:

Can I get "Children Playing" signs on my street?
Answer:

The City of Casselberry does not install "Children Playing" signs for the following reasons:
  • Studies made in cities where "Children Playing" signs were installed indicate that there is no evidence to show that the behavior of drivers changed and that the desired results were obtained.
  • The fact that drivers do not obey these signs gives parents and children a false sense of security. Children should be discouraged from playing in the roadway.
  • The "Children Playing" sign is not a recognized official traffic control device by national, state and local standards.
  • As most residential neighborhoods have children, the absence of the sign would incorrectly imply that there are no children in the area.
