The City of Casselberry does not install speed humps for the following reasons:
- Not only do speed humps slow speeding cars and trucks, but they also slow the response time for emergency vehicles.
- There have been instances of the speed humps causing personal injuries, especially back problems, because of the jarring motion. Courts have held public agencies liable for faulty speed hump designs that caused injuries.
- No speed hump design is effective for all vehicles because of the differences in lengths and wheel spacing.
- Speeding in residential neighborhoods is best controlled by persistent law enforcement efforts, not speed humps.
